Don't Just Pray by Smkiller Don't Just Pray by Smkiller
This is my first stamp. It will probably be my only stamp. It is not a pretty one. And it is not meant to be. The message is the point, and I won't sugar-coat my message with pointlessly applied aesthetics.

I'm personally tired of people saying "Pray for Japan!" or "Everyone pray for Japan" and such. What does praying do, other than make a person feel better about themselves without having to exert some sort of physical effort? Nothing. It does jack shit. But I'm sure that the people (note: not just those in Japan, but others that were hit as well. Australia, NZ, and Hawaii spring to mind) will TOTALLY appreciate you keeping them in their thoughts, in between "my ass hurts from this chair" and "let's fuck the waitress" (Thank you, George Carlin).

If you truly want to make a difference, MAKE it. Don't think it or say it.

There are many places you can go to donate. Here's one of them.

I've no problem with people doing both. Notice the wording on the stamp: "Don't just pray for the people." If someone happens to be praying AND doing something akin to donating or volunteering or whatever, fine. But if they're only praying and thinking that they're actually making a difference at all? That I'm not fine with.

I agree. Christians are here to help, not just pray and go about their lives.

So happy to see this myself.

I'm happy to say I donated what I could to the Red Cross to help everyone out in this crisis.

GO OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING PEOPLE IF YOU TRULY FEEL BAD!

And not just this more recent Tsunami's hitting. What about Libya?
I would personally be a little bit more concerned with Libya where PEOPLE are killing people. Not a natural disaster.
I get where people are coming from with this whole "support" thing, but you're right, if it really is support, it should be for all people effected in all corners of the world.

Actually, the 'pray' part pisses me off :( I'm an agnostic and so I don't exactly do praying much so where the fuck are support stamps for me? *_* Well, guess I'm just gonna make one or sth U_U But you're right, praying is useless usually. But good wishes are not :D If you believe in them ;) And miracles. And flying ponies. ANd I DO. However, if one's broke themselves, starving or stuff how can they REaALLY help huh? Not everyone comes from big, fat-ass America and is able to donate or send their food supplies. So in this case, I think good wishes are enough.

I never implied that everyone comes from big, fat-ass America. Also, I'm agnostic as well. But the praying itself doesn't piss me off. It's when people think that it's all that needs to be done, and that it would physically help anyone.

I suppose I made a small one by checking up on my friends in Japan. I'm hoping it brightened their day at least a little bit knowing a couple more people out there are thinking about them.
